Made in The UK

Made with Pride in the UK, Delivering Superior Quality Prints to Enhance Your Brand.

Flag Printing That Actually Lasts

Most cheap flags fade within weeks. We know because customers bring us faded competitors’ flags asking “can you match this colour?” – then show us photos of how vibrant it looked originally.

Printed Today produces outdoor flag printing differently. We use 195gsm knitted polyester with dye-sublimation technology that locks colours into fabric at molecular level. Last month, a Cardiff rugby club brought back a flag we printed 22 months ago – still needed cleaning, but colours remained sharp despite two Welsh winters outdoors.

We’ve delivered custom printed flags to 847 UK postcodes this year. Sports clubs use our waterproof flags every weekend. Retailers mount our promotional flags outside shops year-round. Festival organisers order hundreds for outdoor events knowing they’ll survive whatever British weather arrives.

Design Your Custom Printed Flags UK

Complete creative freedom. Upload logos, text, photos, illustrations – whatever represents your brand or message. We’ve printed everything from simple two-colour logos to full photographic panoramas across large promotional flags.

Three Design Options Available for Personalised Flags UK

Option 1: Upload Your Own Artwork

Have design files ready? Upload directly during checkout or email them after ordering. For files exceeding 64MB, share via Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, or similar cloud services. We manually review every submission to ensure proper specifications before production begins.

A London event company emails us artwork for 30-50 flags monthly. Their design team knows our specifications and delivers print-ready files that sail through approval. This streamlined process gets their promotional flags into production immediately.

Option 2: Free Design Support

No design software? Our in-house team creates flag graphics at no additional charge. Provide detailed descriptions including your preferred layout, colour scheme, logos, photos, and reference images. The more detail you share, the better we can execute your vision.

Last week, a community group described their requirements over the phone: “Green background, our logo top-left, ‘Community Festival 2024’ in bold yellow text, footer with sponsor logos.” Our designer created three layout options within 24 hours. They selected their favourite, we refined it based on their feedback, and flags were in production two days after their initial call.

This service proves invaluable for customers with clear ideas but limited design experience. You focus on what you want to say; we focus on making it look professional.

Option 3: Professional Design Services

Complex projects benefit from our professional design services. We create bespoke artwork, recreate low-resolution files at proper quality, or develop complete branding solutions. Final artwork gets delivered in editable formats (AI, PSD, PDF) allowing you to reuse, modify, or adapt designs for future flag printing projects or other marketing materials.

A startup used this service to develop their complete visual identity. We created logo concepts, selected typefaces and colour palettes, then applied the branding across custom printed flags, business cards, and website graphics. They received all source files, giving them professional branding assets they continue using across all marketing channels.

Artwork Specifications for Optimal Results

Specification Requirement Why It Matters
File Size Match your selected flag dimensions Ensures design fits without stretching or distortion
Resolution 300 DPI at actual print size Maintains sharp, professional image quality
File Formats PDF, AI, PSD, EPS, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, CDR Maximum flexibility for various design software
Colour Mode CMYK preferred (RGB acceptable) CMYK ensures more predictable colour reproduction
Safe Zone Keep important elements 5cm from edges Prevents text/logos from being caught in hems or eyelets

Unsure if your file meets specifications? Upload it anyway. Our print technicians review every submission and contact you if adjustments would improve results before production begins.

Understanding Colour Reproduction

Digital screens display colours using RGB (red, green, blue light). Printing uses CMYK inks (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). This fundamental difference means screen colours don’t always translate directly to print.

We convert all artwork files to CMYK format before printing. This conversion can cause slight colour variance, particularly with bright greens, oranges, and blues that exist in RGB but can’t be perfectly reproduced in CMYK. If you submit Pantone colour references, we’ll match them as closely as CMYK printing allows, but exact Pantone reproduction isn’t possible with dye-sublimation printing.

To ensure you’re happy with how colours will actually print, we email print-ready files showing your design after CMYK conversion. This preview lets you see colour shifts before production begins, preventing disappointment when flags arrive.

A marketing agency learned this lesson after their client’s bright lime green logo (RGB 0, 255, 0) printed more subdued in CMYK. When they came to us for replacement waterproof flags, we showed them the CMYK preview first. They adjusted the green slightly darker in their source file, achieving much closer match to their desired appearance. The preview system saved them from repeating the same disappointment.

The Print-Ready File Approval Process

After receiving your artwork, our pre-press team converts files to print-ready format. This process includes:

  • RGB to CMYK colour conversion
  • Resolution verification and enhancement if needed
  • Layout checking for proper sizing
  • Safe zone confirmation for text and logos
  • Spell-checking text elements

We then email you the converted print-ready files for approval. This email highlights any detected issues and shows exactly how your flag will print. We only proceed to production after receiving your written approval – typically by replying to the approval email confirming you’re satisfied with the preview.

This mandatory approval step protects you from receiving flags that don’t meet expectations. Take time reviewing the print-ready files carefully, checking colours, spellings, layouts, and overall appearance. Once you approve and your order is marked “Sent to Print,” no further artwork changes are possible.

Important timing note: Print-ready file approvals received after 12pm are processed as next-day orders. If you’re using express services, factor this approval timeline into your scheduling. A customer ordering same-day service at 9am but not approving print-ready files until 2pm would receive next-day delivery instead. Contact us before ordering if you need confirmation of achievable delivery dates based on your artwork readiness.

File Formats and Resolution Explained

Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF with embedded fonts) produce optimal results because they’re resolution-independent – they can scale to any size without quality loss. If working with professional designers, request vector formats.

Raster files (JPEG, PNG, TIFF) depend on resolution. That 800-pixel logo on your website works fine on screens but only prints at approximately 6.7cm width at proper 300 DPI quality. For a 150cm wide flag, you’d need that logo at 17,700 pixels width minimum. Always provide the highest-resolution versions available – we’ll confirm adequacy during file review.

Not sure which format you have? Right-click your file and check properties, or simply upload it – our team identifies file types and confirms suitability immediately.

Common Artwork Issues We Fix

Our pre-press team catches and corrects common problems:

Low Resolution: Blurry logos or pixelated images get flagged. We’ll request higher-resolution versions or, if you’ve used our professional design services, recreate elements at proper quality.

Incorrect Sizing: Files that don’t match ordered dimensions get resized proportionally. We confirm the adjustment doesn’t affect design integrity before proceeding.

RGB Colour Spaces: Files submitted in RGB get converted to CMYK with preview proofs showing resulting colours accurately.

Missing Fonts: PDF files without embedded fonts or AI files missing font files get identified. We’ll either embed fonts automatically or contact you for the specific typefaces used.

Inadequate Safe Zones: Designs with text or logos too close to flag edges get flagged. We’ll suggest adjustments preventing important elements from being caught in hems or hidden by eyelets.

This thorough checking process has prevented thousands of printing errors. We’d rather delay production by a few hours to get artwork right than deliver flags that don’t meet your standards.

Fast Express Delivery When You Need It

Being number one for speed means nothing if quality suffers. We’ve never shipped a flag with colour issues, alignment problems, or finishing defects just to hit a deadline. Speed comes from efficient workflows, not corner-cutting.

Standard Delivery (5 Working Days)

Our base service provides 5 working days from artwork approval to dispatch. This timeline suits planned campaigns, regular orders, and situations where timing flexibility exists. Standard delivery costs nothing extra beyond the flag price itself – and orders over £100 ship free.

Most customers choose standard delivery. It provides excellent value whilst ensuring every production step receives proper attention. Your waterproof flag printing arrives exactly as specified, carefully packaged for transit protection.

72-Hour Express Service

Three working days from approval to delivery. Ideal when you’ve got a week until your event but want flags ready with days to spare. Sports clubs use this for upcoming fixtures. Retailers preparing for promotional weekends find it hits the sweet spot between speed and economy.

We prioritise 72-hour orders in our production queue without compromising quality checks. The 10% premium reflects overtime costs and courier upgrades, not rushed work. A Leeds business networking group orders flags this way before every quarterly event – they know exactly when flags arrive, every time.

48-Hour Express Service

Two working days proves invaluable for tighter schedules. Last month, a London restaurant opening needed outdoor flag printing after their original supplier cancelled 3 days before launch. We confirmed their artwork Monday morning, delivered Wednesday afternoon. The opening proceeded as scheduled.

The 15% premium covers priority production, enhanced quality control (we check twice), and guaranteed courier services. When timing matters but same-day isn’t necessary, 48-hour express balances speed with cost-effectiveness.

24-Hour Express Service

Next working day delivery. Order and approve artwork before 2pm, receive flags the following working day.

This service saved a Birmingham trade show exhibitor whose flags were destroyed in transit from another supplier. They ordered replacement custom printed flags Tuesday afternoon, exhibited Wednesday morning. The 25% premium becomes irrelevant when the alternative is missing a £3,000 exhibition stand booking.

We maintain 24-hour capacity by keeping production lines partially available for rush orders. It costs us in efficiency, but customers facing genuine emergencies need reliable solutions.

Same-Day Express Service

Order before 10am, receive flags the same working day. London and M25 corridor get afternoon delivery. Rest of UK receives overnight for next morning arrival.

Same-day exists for genuine emergencies. A council used it when unexpected roadworks required immediate safety flags. An event company needed urgent replacements when wind destroyed their flags overnight. A retailer required promotional flags for an unplanned celebrity visit.

The 44% premium reflects significant workflow disruption and premium courier costs. But when circumstances demand immediate flag printing, knowing someone can deliver makes the difference between success and failure.

Choosing the Right Finishing Options

Flags attach to poles or structures three ways: eyelets, pole pockets, or rope attachments. Choose based on your specific mounting situation and usage pattern. You’ll select one of these three options during checkout – we’ll ensure you choose the configuration that works best for your application.

Eyelet Finishing

What It Is: Metal-reinforced holes around the flag’s perimeter, allowing cable ties, rope, or clips to secure the flag.

When to Choose Eyelets:

  • Mounting to fences, railings, or frameworks
  • Temporary installations requiring quick setup and removal
  • Multiple attachment points for security in exposed locations
  • Budget-conscious projects (eyelets cost less than pole pockets)

Why They Work: Eyelets provide flexibility. A school uses eyelet-finished flags on railings during sports days, then stores them until the next event. A market trader clips eyelet flags to their stall framework every weekend, removing them at day’s end. The reinforced metal prevents tearing even with repeated attachment and removal.

How to Use Them: Thread rope, cable ties, or bungee cords through eyelets and secure to your mounting structure. For maximum security, use every available eyelet. For lighter applications or temporary displays, attaching at corners often suffices. The flexibility lets you adjust tension and positioning easily.

Configuration Options:

  • Four corners: Basic security for smaller outdoor flags in moderate wind
  • Every 50cm: Maximum security for large promotional flags or exposed locations
  • Top only (2, 3, or 4 eyelets): Hanging flags from overhead structures or canopies
  • Top and bottom (3 each): Banner-style mounting on fences or walls requiring both edges secured

Pole Pocket Finishing

What It Is: A reinforced fabric sleeve sewn along one or more edges, allowing poles or battens to slide through.

When to Choose Pole Pockets:

  • Traditional flagpole mounting (left-side pocket is standard)
  • Creating smooth, professional appearance without visible hardware
  • Permanent installations where flags remain mounted long-term
  • Indoor displays requiring clean, exhibition-quality presentation

Why They Work: Pole pockets create elegant displays. The fabric flows naturally in wind without hardware interference. A hotel uses left-pocket flags on entrance poles – the seamless appearance matches their premium positioning. Corporate offices choose top-pocket flags for indoor atriums where visible eyelets would look unfinished.

How to Use Them: Slide your flagpole or batten through the pocket opening. For vertical pole pockets (left or right), the top is stitched closed preventing the flag from sliding down. For horizontal pockets (top or bottom), sides remain open allowing natural fabric movement whilst the weighted edge hangs straight or stays taut against the batten.

Configuration Options:

  • Left pocket (top stitched closed): Traditional vertical flag mounting on standard poles
  • Right pocket (top stitched closed): Reverse orientation for specific architectural requirements
  • Top pocket (sides open): Hanging banner displays for indoor events or retail
  • Left and right pockets: Dual-pole systems preventing flag wrap and twisting
  • Top and bottom pockets: Rigid banner displays requiring completely flat presentation

Rope Attachment Finishing

What It Is: Pre-attached rope (15cm extra each side) sewn into flag edges, ready for immediate tying or clipping.

When to Choose Rope:

  • Quick installation without purchasing separate fixing materials
  • Locations where cable ties or clips aren’t practical
  • Situations requiring adjustable positioning
  • Outdoor events needing rapid multi-flag setup

Why It Works: Rope finishing provides immediate usability. A festival team erects 50 rope-finished flags across their site in under an hour – just tie to available structures. A construction company uses them on hoarding panels, adjusting height by simply retying. The included rope eliminates trips to hardware stores.

How to Use Them: The pre-attached rope extends 15cm beyond flag edges, giving adequate length for secure knots or hardware connection. Tie directly to poles, railings, frameworks, or use the rope with carabiners or hooks for even faster setup. Adjust tension and positioning by retying as needed throughout your flag’s lifespan.

Pricing by Flag Perimeter:

  • 0-50cm perimeter: £1.99
  • 51-100cm perimeter: £2.49
  • 101-200cm perimeter: £2.99
  • 201-300cm perimeter: £3.99

Position Options: Left, right, top, left and right, or top and bottom – matching your specific mounting points.

Still unsure which finishing suits your needs? Contact our team – we’ve guided thousands of customers to the right choice based on their specific situation. Describe where and how you’ll mount your flags, and we’ll recommend the optimal finishing configuration.

How We Compare to UK Competitors

Price matters, but only when quality matches expectations. We’ve compared our outdoor flag printing against three major UK suppliers using identical specifications – same sizes, same finishing, same delivery timescales.

Flag Size Printed Today Helloprint Bannerworld Bannerbuzz
100 × 70 cm £11.67 £24.92 £72.00 £13.34
150 × 100 cm £23.42 £27.08 £72.00

200 × 150 cm £43.59 £46.36 £82.62 £49.55
300 × 200 cm £79.43 £84.91 £137.70 £99.10
400 × 200 cm £105.91 £110.62 £220.32 £111.65
400 × 300 cm £156.30 £162.02 £316.08 £171.77

This comparison shows our consistent 10-20% price advantage over similarly-sized competitors, with even greater savings against premium suppliers like Bannerworld. These are real prices collected from competitor websites in November 2024 for identical specifications. Our lower pricing comes from efficient operations and direct manufacturing, not cheaper materials – we use the same 195gsm polyester and dye-sublimation processes that competitors charge premium rates for.

Real Applications for Custom Printed Flags

Different industries use outdoor flag printing for different purposes. Here’s how our waterproof flags actually get deployed across the UK.

Retail and Hospitality

Independent shops mount promotional flags at entrances announcing offers, new stock arrivals, or seasonal themes. A Bath chocolatier changes their flags monthly to match product launches – “New Summer Truffles” in June, “Christmas Selection Available” from November. Cost-effective compared to permanent signage, far more eye-catching than static window displays.

Restaurants and pubs use promotional flag printing & personalised flags UK for outdoor seating areas, car parks, and street-facing locations. A Cornwall beach cafe flies branded flags that customers recognise from 200 meters away whilst driving past. Those flags generate more walk-in traffic than their previous A-board signage.

Events and Festivals

Festival organisers create entire wayfinding systems using colour-coded flags. Red flags mark toilets, blue flags indicate water stations, green flags show recycling points. One music festival (38,000 capacity) uses 200 of our flags across their site annually – they’ve reordered the same designs three years running because the originals still look presentable.

Exhibition companies buy custom printed flags in bulk for recurring events. A company running quarterly trade shows keeps 50 branded flags in storage, deploying them at different venues throughout the year. Their flags see 12+ setups annually but remain in rotation because finishing quality prevents the eyelet failures that destroy cheaper alternatives.

Sports and Recreation

Football clubs use matchday flags for pitch-side advertising (sponsors love the visibility), while supporters’ groups create atmosphere flags bearing club mottos and chants. A non-league club in Yorkshire bought 20 flags with “Home of Champions” messaging – they’ve flown every home game for two seasons, still vibrant despite being in the wettest part of England.

Running events mark race routes with waterproof flags showing directions, kilometre markers, and sponsor branding. One established marathon decorates their entire 26.2-mile route with flags annually – we print 150 flags every spring that withstand October event conditions then get recycled or donated to schools.

Corporate and Business

Multi-site businesses maintain brand consistency using identical flags across locations. A car dealership chain flies matching promotional flags at all 14 sites – they order in bulk twice yearly to refresh weathered flags and add new outlets. Consistent branding builds recognition; consistent quality builds trust.

Construction companies use site flags for safety messaging, contractor identification, and project marketing. A London developer flies flags showing project completion dates and contact details on hoarding panels – prospective buyers see them from passing buses and tube trains, generating enquiries throughout the build phase.

Complex orders benefit from direct communication with people who understand flag printing specifications and applications.

Why Our Flag Printing Works Better

Three things separate flags that last from flags that disappoint: material weight, printing method, and finishing quality.

The Material Difference

That 195gsm knitted polyester specification isn’t marketing speak. Lighter fabrics (80-100gsm) tear easily in wind. Heavier woven materials (200gsm+) create excessive wind resistance that damages poles and fixings.

195gsm knitted polyester hits the sweet spot. The knitted structure flexes naturally in wind rather than fighting it – reducing stress on seams and eyelets. We’ve tested this extensively: flags mounted at our Dagenham facility face prevailing winds daily. After 6 months, knitted polyester shows minimal wear whilst woven samples developed edge fraying and eyelet tearing.

The fabric’s natural water resistance works with our UV-stabilised inks to create genuinely waterproof flags. Rain runs off rather than saturating the material. Flags dry quickly, preventing that heavy sagging appearance that waterlogged materials create.

Dye-Sublimation vs. Everything Else

Screen printing sits on the surface. Vinyl stickers peel at edges. Digital UV printing cracks when fabric flexes.

Dye-sublimation heats specialised inks until they convert to gas, then bonds them directly into polyester fibres. The colour becomes part of the fabric structure rather than sitting on top. When a Brighton café owner accidentally left one of our personalised flags in a bucket of bleach overnight (don’t ask), the colours survived. The fabric didn’t, but the inks remained bonded.

This process also explains why our outdoor flag printing maintains colour accuracy. We can reproduce complex graphics, match existing branding, and print photographic images with genuine clarity. A property developer recently used large photos of completed projects on flags at site hoardings – the detail reproduction surprised their marketing team.

Finishing That Prevents Failure

Most flag failures happen at attachment points, not fabric damage. A poorly-placed eyelet tears out. An inadequate hem unravels. A weak seam splits.

Every flag gets double-folded hems with reinforced stitching. Eyelets receive additional fabric backing. Seams (needed on flags exceeding 300cm width or height) are overlapped and double-stitched with UV-resistant thread. These details add 15 minutes per flag but prevent the failures we’ve seen in competitors’ work.

Frequently Asked Questions About Flag Printing

Q: What material are the flags printed on?

We use 195gsm knitted polyester fabric exclusively. This professional-grade material balances durability with lightweight flexibility, creating weather-resistant outdoor flags that withstand wind without excessive stress on mounting hardware. The knitted structure allows natural airflow, reducing the sail effect that damages flags in exposed locations. Dye-sublimation inks bond directly into polyester fibres, ensuring waterproof flags with permanent colour that won’t fade, crack, or peel even after months of continuous outdoor exposure.

Q: How long will printed flags last outdoors?

Typical lifespan for permanent outdoor installation in exposed locations ranges from 6-12 months before colours begin noticeable fading or fabric shows wear. Flags in sheltered positions (building entrances, covered areas) or used intermittently for events often last 2-3 years. We’ve had customers report flags remaining vibrant after 18-22 months in coastal locations with harsh salt-air conditions. Lifespan depends heavily on wind exposure, sunlight intensity, and whether flags are taken down during severe weather. Proper care – occasional cleaning and appropriate storage when not displayed – extends durability significantly.

Q: Can I get custom sizes?

Absolutely. While we list popular sizes for convenience, our system calculates pricing for any dimensions you specify. Enter measurements in millimetres, centimetres, metres, inches, or feet – we accommodate them all. Flags requiring seams (those exceeding 300cm on width or height) receive professional joining with overlapped, double-stitched seams that maintain visual continuity. Custom sizing proves particularly valuable when you’ve got specific mounting spaces or need flags matching existing displays.

Q: What’s included in the price?

Base pricing covers printing on 195gsm polyester, double-folded hem stitching, standard four-corner eyelet finishing, and delivery. Prices are final and all-inclusive – no hidden charges appear at checkout. Optional upgrades (alternative eyelet configurations, pole pockets, or rope attachments) add clearly-stated supplementary costs shown in the finishing options section. Bulk discounts apply automatically when ordering multiple identical flags. Orders over £100 qualify for free delivery regardless of destination within the UK.

Q: Do you provide artwork design services?

We offer free design support where our in-house team creates flag graphics at no additional charge based on your detailed descriptions. For complex projects requiring bespoke artwork or complete branding solutions, our professional design services provide full creative development with final files delivered in editable formats (AI, PSD, PDF). We also provide comprehensive pre-press checking on every submitted file, reviewing artwork for resolution adequacy, colour space issues, and layout concerns that might affect final quality.

Q: How do I choose between eyelets, pole pockets, and rope?

Your mounting situation determines optimal finishing. Eyelets suit temporary installations, fence mounting, or situations requiring multiple attachment points – they’re also most economical. Pole pockets create traditional flagpole displays with elegant appearance and work best for permanent installations where flags stay mounted long-term. Rope attachments provide convenience for rapid deployment across festival sites or locations where you’re tying to various structures. If you’re still uncertain, contact our team – describing your specific application lets us recommend finishing that’ll work best for your circumstances.

Q: Can you match specific brand colours exactly?

We match colours as closely as CMYK printing allows. While we can reference Pantone colours, our printing process uses CMYK inks rather than Pantone spot colours, which can create slight variance particularly with bright RGB colours that can’t be perfectly reproduced in CMYK. To ensure you’re satisfied with how colours will actually print, we convert your artwork to CMYK and email print-ready files showing the true printed colours before production begins. This preview system prevents surprises when flags arrive.

Q: What’s your minimum order quantity?

We have no minimum order quantity. Order a single personalised flag if that’s what you need. Our pricing structure provides progressive discounts as quantities increase, rewarding larger orders with better per-unit rates, but we’re equally happy printing one flag as printing hundreds. Small businesses testing promotional strategies and individuals needing one-off flags receive the same quality attention as bulk commercial orders.

Q: Do express services compromise quality?

Never. Express pricing covers priority production scheduling, overtime labour costs, and premium courier services – not reduced quality checking or rushed finishing. Every flag receives identical material specifications, printing resolution, and hem stitching regardless of delivery speed. We’ve shipped thousands of same-day flags without compromising the standards that built our reputation. Speed comes from efficient workflows and priority scheduling, not corner-cutting or skipped quality control steps.

Q: Can flags be used indoors?

Absolutely. While engineered for outdoor flag printing durability, our flags work equally well for indoor applications. Exhibition halls, retail environments, corporate atriums, and event spaces all benefit from the lightweight material and professional print quality. Indoor use extends flag lifespan considerably since they avoid weather exposure and UV degradation. Many customers use the same flags for both outdoor promotional periods and indoor exhibition displays throughout the year.

Q: How should I clean printed flags?

Hand wash in cold water using mild detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or hot water which can affect colour vibrancy. Rinse thoroughly and hang to air-dry rather than using tumble dryers which can damage polyester material. For stubborn dirt or staining, gentle scrubbing with a soft brush usually suffices. Most flags only need occasional cleaning – the polyester material naturally sheds light dirt and dust. Regular cleaning extends flag lifespan by removing particles that might otherwise degrade fabric fibres over time.

Q: What happens if my flag gets damaged?

Reorder at any time using your original artwork, which we keep on file for 12 months after printing. Many customers establish scheduled replacement cycles – ordering fresh promotional flags every 6 months ensures consistently vibrant displays without waiting for complete deterioration. Bulk customers often order extras as spares, rotating flags to extend overall display lifespan. If damage occurs within the first few weeks due to defective materials or workmanship, contact us immediately – we stand behind our quality and address genuine defects promptly.

Q: What’s the approval process for print-ready files?

After receiving your artwork, we convert files to print-ready format including RGB to CMYK colour conversion, resolution verification, and layout checking. We then email you the converted files showing exactly how your flag will print. We only proceed to production after receiving your written approval – typically by replying to the approval email. This mandatory step protects you from receiving flags that don’t meet expectations. Print-ready file approvals received after cutoff times are processed as next-day orders, so factor this timeline into express delivery scheduling.
