A0 sign board printing gives you a large-format 841 × 1189 mm (33.1 × 46.8 inches) rigid panel designed for signage that needs genuine visual presence. At approximately 10.76 sq ft, A0 is twice the area of A1 and large enough for prominent retail advertising, exhibition graphics, event information, construction notices, directional signage and commercial displays.
Printed Today produces A0 boards in four materials: 5 mm Foamex PVC, 3 mm ACP/Dibond aluminium composite, 4 mm Correx and 5 mm KT Soft Board. All four are supplied at the same A0 dimensions, but they behave very differently once installed. Foamex provides versatile rigidity and excellent print quality, Dibond is built for long-term exterior use, Correx keeps temporary large-format signage economical and KT Soft Board gives you a very lightweight indoor display.
Every A0 printed sign board is direct UV printed in-house at Printed Today’s UK facility. The ink cures immediately under ultraviolet light as it reaches the board, giving strong colour, sharp graphics and a durable surface. Both faces of the same sheet can also be printed directly, so double-sided A0 signage does not require two boards to be bonded together.
A finished A0 board measures:
| Measurement | A0 Dimensions |
|---|---|
| Millimetres | 841 × 1189 mm |
| Centimetres | 84.1 × 118.9 cm |
| Inches | 33.1 × 46.8 in |
| Approximate area | 10.76 sq ft |
A0 can be used in either orientation:
Portrait creates a large poster-style format suited to promotions, event information and exhibition graphics. Landscape works particularly well for directional signage, entrance boards, wide retail displays and branding across larger wall areas.
At almost 1.2 metres on its longest edge, A0 is a substantial rigid panel. It should therefore be measured against the actual installation space rather than judged purely from dimensions shown on a screen.
A0 is intended for jobs where the sign needs to command attention rather than simply provide close-range information.
Typical applications include:
The extra A0 area is most effective when it is used for larger typography, stronger imagery and greater spacing rather than simply adding more text.
At A0, material selection becomes especially important because the larger panel places greater demands on rigidity, handling and fixing.
A0 Foamex board printing is a strong all-round specification where you need a large rigid panel with a smooth, professional print surface.
Foamex is 5 mm rigid expanded PVC. It has a solid, non-porous face rather than a paper skin or fluted structure, allowing UV ink to reproduce large areas of colour and photography cleanly while retaining detail in logos and supporting text.
A0 Foamex works particularly well for:
Foamex remains relatively light for its rigidity, which can make an A0 panel easier to handle than a denser permanent substrate.
For exterior use, four-corner fixing is preferable, and lamination can provide additional protection from weather and repeated cleaning.
For long-term outdoor installation, choose A0 Dibond printing.
Printed Today’s 3 mm aluminium composite panel consists of two aluminium skins bonded around a polyethylene core. The construction provides very high rigidity, excellent resistance to moisture and strong dimensional stability.
These properties become particularly valuable at A0 because a large sign that bows, twists or develops edge movement can quickly look poorly installed.
A0 Dibond is particularly suitable for:
The aluminium surface also provides excellent print definition, which is useful where a large A0 design combines photography or branding with smaller supporting information.
For permanent installation, four-corner drill holes provide a straightforward fixing arrangement against a suitable solid structure.
A0 Correx board printing is designed for temporary large-format signage where low weight and economical pricing are more important than maximum rigidity.
Correx is 4 mm fluted polypropylene. Its hollow internal ribs keep a large A0 panel very light while the plastic remains waterproof.
This makes A0 Correx particularly useful for:
The trade-off is flexibility. A0 presents significantly more surface area to wind than A4, A3 or A2, so exposed Correx signs should be secured at all four corners rather than left hanging from the top edge.
Bold typography, strong contrast and simple graphics also suit the fluted surface better than artwork dependent on extremely fine photographic detail.
A0 soft board printing gives you a large graphic surface while keeping the board exceptionally light.
KT Soft Board uses a foam core with smooth outer liners. At A0, that low weight becomes a significant advantage for exhibitions, conferences and temporary displays that need to be carried, repositioned or removed frequently.
Common applications include:
KT Soft Board is strictly indoor only. Moisture can cause the facing and core to warp or separate, so choose Foamex, Correx or Dibond for any A0 board that may be exposed to outdoor conditions.
| Material | Thickness | Best A0 Application | Outdoor Suitability | Rigidity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Foamex PVC | 5 mm | Retail, exhibitions and general large signage | Short to medium term | High |
| ACP / Dibond | 3 mm | Permanent exterior signage | Excellent | Very high |
| Correx | 4 mm | Temporary, event and construction signage | Good for short-term use | Low to medium |
| KT Soft Board | 5 mm | Large portable indoor displays | Not suitable | Medium |
A0 provides twice the printable area of A1.
Choose A0 instead of A1 when:
A1 remains the better choice where strong impact is needed but easier handling and a smaller physical footprint are more important.
A0 is large, but it is still substantially smaller than a full 8 × 4 ft board.
A0 covers approximately 10.76 sq ft, while an 8 × 4 ft full sheet covers approximately 32 sq ft.
Choose A0 when:
Move to an 8 × 4 ft panel when the job involves hoardings, large shopfront coverage, development graphics or another installation where a much greater continuous surface is required.
One A0 sign covers approximately 10.76 sq ft.
For a single board on standard 5-working-day delivery, single-sided and without lamination, Printed Today’s current reference prices are:
| Material | A0 Size | Approx. Area | Reference Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Correx 4 mm | 841 × 1189 mm | 10.76 sq ft | £35.51 |
| KT Soft Board 5 mm | 841 × 1189 mm | 10.76 sq ft | £15.71 |
| Foamex PVC 5 mm | 841 × 1189 mm | 10.76 sq ft | £31.42 |
| ACP / Dibond 3 mm | 841 × 1189 mm | 10.76 sq ft | £74.67 |
These are reference figures for material comparison. Quantity, double-sided printing, lamination, fixing options and turnaround can change the final price.
There is no minimum order.
Each A0 board contributes approximately 10.76 sq ft, so even small quantities create a significant combined order area.
| Quantity | Approx. Total Area |
|---|---|
| 1 | 10.76 sq ft |
| 2 | 21.52 sq ft |
| 5 | 53.80 sq ft |
| 10 | 107.60 sq ft |
| 25 | 269.00 sq ft |
| 50 | 538.00 sq ft |
Printed Today prices according to the total square footage of the order, so larger A0 runs automatically move through the relevant pricing bands.
This can be particularly useful for:
Different A0 designs can be produced within the same order. Clearly label each artwork file and state the quantity required for each version.
The correct option depends on how the board will be installed.
Printed Today prints directly onto both faces of one sheet, so double-sided production does not require two A0 panels to be bonded together.
The artwork on each side can also be different, which is useful for directional signs, entrance and exit messaging or promotions viewed from opposing directions.
At 841 × 1189 mm, fixing is an important part of the product specification.
A0 creates a much larger surface for wind and movement than smaller A-series boards, so exterior panels should be supported securely.
Choose pre-drilled holes where screws or bolts will hold the panel against a solid structure.
Four-point fixing helps hold the board flat and reduces movement around the edges.
Eyelets provide reinforced fixing points for cable ties, rope or hooks.
For outdoor A0 Correx in particular, secure four-corner fixing is strongly preferable because the substrate is lightweight and wind-sensitive.
The larger printed area makes lighting and reflections more noticeable on A0 than on smaller signs.
On exterior Foamex and Dibond signage, lamination also provides an additional protective layer over the UV print.
Prepare portrait artwork at 841 × 1189 mm or landscape artwork at 1189 × 841 mm.
| Specification | A0 Requirement |
|---|---|
| Finished size | 841 × 1189 mm |
| Resolution | 150–300 dpi at final print size |
| Bleed | 3–5 mm on all sides |
| Colour mode | CMYK preferred, RGB accepted |
| Preferred formats | PDF, AI, EPS |
| Also accepted | PSD, PNG, JPEG, TIFF |
| Fonts | Outlined or converted to curves |
A0 artwork should be designed around visibility.
The main headline, offer, arrow or image should communicate before somebody reaches the sign. Secondary information can then support the main message at closer range.
Large photographs deserve particular attention. A small image downloaded from a website can appear acceptable on screen but become visibly soft or pixelated when enlarged across an A0 panel. Wherever possible, use high-resolution source images or vector artwork.
Printed Today’s pre-press team manually checks dimensions, bleed, resolution and colour setup before production and contacts you if anything needs correcting.
Choose the artwork status that matches your situation:
Where one campaign uses A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0 signage, each layout can be adapted individually rather than simply enlarging one design. This keeps typography, image scale and spacing appropriate at every size.
All turnaround times begin from artwork approval.
One A0 board covers approximately 10.76 sq ft. Five A0 boards total approximately 53.80 sq ft, while six total approximately 64.56 sq ft, so the quantity becomes particularly relevant where same-day collection is being considered.
Always confirm current same-day availability through the calculator before committing to an installation deadline.
Printed Today produces Foamex, Correx, Dibond and KT Soft Board in-house at its UK facility using direct UV printing.
At A0, consistent print quality becomes particularly visible because large areas of photography, solid colour and branding occupy substantially more physical space than they do on smaller boards.
Direct UV printing helps maintain sharp graphics and dense colour across the complete 841 × 1189 mm surface, while in-house cutting and finishing keep the production workflow under one roof.
Because all four substrates are produced through the same system, the material can be selected around the actual job rather than automatically specifying the highest-cost board.
If A0 is the right size but you are uncertain about material, lamination or fixing, contact Printed Today before placing the order.
Tell the team whether the sign will be indoors or outdoors, how long it needs to remain installed and what it will be fixed to. At A0 size, those details are particularly important when deciding between lightweight Correx, versatile Foamex, permanent Dibond and indoor KT Soft Board.
